HOW LAST NIGHT WENT:

So last night as we previously said we would, we filmed our extra scene to add in explaining why the husband goes and abuses his wife. Alcohol, was what we decided was the initial cause for this. In the end we decided we only needed Ollie for this scene and we got the filming done in a good time and effectively. The only thing was my phone is in for repair so we had to film this scene on my mums phone, and the quality was a lot better, but its not too noticeable the difference between this scene and the rest of the scenes.

PICTURES OF WHERE WE DECIDED TO FILM:
MORE STRESS, YAHH
We took our film to Mr Bunce, to watch so we could get some constructive criticism. As Millie and I came up with the storyline, it all makes sense to us whats going on, but Mr Bunce pointed out to us in fact it doesn't make sense why the male actor beats up his wife in the second half. Just before Mr Bunce pointed this out to us, I had shown our film to my Mum and her friend Alison, both of them pointed out that they were confused why the male actor just beat up his wife with no clear explanation why. They couldn’t see what could of set him off.

So Millie and I spoke about it, and figured out we clearly needed to add another scene to sort out this problem. Millie on behalf of both of us, sent the actor and actress a message on Facebook asking them if they could come over to my house and when, to film that little bit to add in to sort the problem out.

It was difficult trying to find a time and date everyone could do, because of work, school and other activities we all do, but luckily in the end everyone decided they could do THURSDAY 26TH FEBRUARY. Another problem sorted, Yippee.

Below I have shown a picture of the message Millie sent on Facebook:

WHAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO NAME OUR FILM:

We have chosen to name our film: ROSE TINTED, we decided to do this because of the female character. A few years ago i first came along the term ‘rose tinted glasses’, my mum described to me its when you see all the good in a person but block out the ‘bad’ bits, just like the our female character because she's love her husband she sees all the good in him, the things she fell in love with, and blocks out the fact he beats her up and treats her very badly.

DEFINITION OF ROSE TINTED GLASSES:

rose-tinted glasses  (British, American & Australian) also rose-tinted spectacles (British)
if someone looks at something through rose-tinted glasses, they see only the pleasant parts of it She has always looked at life through rose-tinted glasses.

UPDATE ON MUSIC

As we had to change the script, we had to

change the music we used. We have decided to

use more music this time, one song for the

wedding scene and the one song for the abusive

scene. Our first song is at last by Etta

James, we found this song by researching

romantic wedding songs on google, SIMPLE,

and listened to a fair few options, when we

finally came across to at last. It fitted

perfectly and we liked how you could argue its

not a typical traditional song, but still

romantic and slow and suitable for a wedding.

Then we went on to my iTunes and listened to

a few sad songs that we believed would fit the

abusive scene. I found Say something

originally sung by A great big world and

Christina Aguilera, then I remembered I had

another version sung not too  long ago by Jake

Quickenden on X-Factor. I found the song

very moving and proved to be another perfect

fit. When Millie was editing we also figured

out that the lyrics in the song “when i will

stumble and fall “ works out with when

Ophelia stumbles and falls into the photo

frame on the wall, Millie placed the song so

it worked out like this, but this showed how

perfect the lyrics are for this scene.

Below I have put the links for the songs:

TROUBLES WITH ACTORS- UPDATE ON THE SITUATION

As I wrote earlier on we have had our fair deal of troubles with actors. Our first actor-Henry, turned out not to be able to act because of a meeting, then I called up another friend and he agreed to play the part, a few hours before we were meant to be filming he calls me up and says he can’t act because his boss has made him go to a race, as he's a jockey. Panicking like mad, we went around school calling anyone and everyone to play the part, and we found a friend of ours from school who agreed to do it. LIFE SAVER! He saved the day.

His name is Ollie Lavis and he is 18 years old.

Luckily our female actress said she could do it and stuck with that. So we didn't have to find a replacement for her, which as a BIG relief.

Below is- THE UPDATED SCRIPT

Changes to scene one:

Vicar: (reads out a passage from the bible)

Husband: “I love you”

Wife: “I love you too”

Husband: “You’re mine forever now”

Changes to scene two:

Husband: “Don’t you dare fucking pick that up”

Husband: (phone conversation with his wife’s mother)

Our storyline had to be changed because of our lack of facilities and also because of how short the time we had to film.. Therefore resulting in having to change our script.

PROBLEMS WHEN FILMING:

Throughout our filming we came across some problems. To start off with, the day before we were due to film we found out our original actor Henry, couldn’t act the next day due to a meeting he had to go in for work. We swiftly sorted out this first problem and replaced him with a friend of mine. The next day a couple hours before we were due to film, my friend called me up and explained he had been asked by his boss to go race, as he is a jockey, he couldn’t say no to his boss as its his job. Millie and I were left frantically ringing everyone and anyone up to see if they would play the part of the Husband. We managed to find a friend in school, Ollie Lavis, who thankfully agreed to play the part, and went home and grabbed a suit, and actually fitted the part perfectly. LIFE SAVER. He took the filming seriously and did a great job acting. He asked if his friend, Sam Flippance could come too for moral support. As he was doing us the biggest favour, we agreed. Sam ended up being a smart part in the filming. Which worked out well in the end.

As if we had been stressed out enough, my camera which we had been taking test shots on, and was planning on using to film everything on, decided to die on us. Luckily I had my iPhone which filmed everything in great quality, but we had to film everything hand held as neither Millie or myself had access to a tripod. This turned out for the best as well, because we shot it in a documentary style. This is because of the story line being so strong and emotionally touching, we wanted to make it look as realistic as possible. Just to add to our joyous problems, my battery was very low, which meant we had to a lot of stop and starting to let my phone charge.

Due to Ollie being a last minute replacement he didn't have time to learn the lines we wrote for his character, so we had to change his lines slightly and make them short so he could memorise them as quick as possible. He did a great job regardless to this.

In one media lesson, we turned excited to start editing what we had filmed, for some reason the school computers refused to recognise my phone was plugged in, even though my phone was showing it was connected. We went to the IT technicians but they were on their lunch break. So we had to wait to get home to get onto my computer to edit what we had filmed. No good luck for us!

The problem was as Sam was only meant to be their for moral support, we had no costume prepared for him, so we had to work with what we had to make him look as smart as possible, playing a priest at a wedding. When we went through the film we noticed Sam’s socks were clearly noticeable as we asked him to take off this shoes as they were trainers and therefore didn't seem suitable for a priest to be wearing. Compared to the other problems we experienced, this one seemed very little.

RISK ASSESSMENTS
    SHOOTING SCHEDULE & SHOTS LIST
C H A R A C T E R  D E V E L O P M E N T

For the wives character we have casted a girl called Ophelia Chidgey. She is a school friend of Millies and mine. Our reasons for casting her is because she physically is what we were looking for. She 5ft2, skinny, petite and very beautiful. She has long brown hair which gives us the option of hair styles, so we can do different styles for the wedding scene (scene one) and then the abusive scene (scene two). She is eighteen years old, which means we are able to dress her up slightly with the use of make up and clothing to make her look older. She is well spoken and clearly is a well kept person making her the perfect wife and actress.

For the actor who will be playing the husband, i have asked a friend of mine called Henry Burgoyne-Probyne. Henry is around 6ft tall, physically fit and good looking. The height and his physical state gives him strength over ophelia who is very petite. Another good thing about Henry is he can grow facial hair, our aim is therefore for him to grow facial hair for the abusive scene and shave it all off for the wedding scene. He is 30 years old, so there is a noticeable age gap between himself and Ophelia, which works well, because she's the younger, beautiful wife, that he can show off which leads on to possessiveness. Why he may be so possessive and protective of her, scared he may loose her to someone else or may even be worried he may never ever find someone as beautiful as her.

Lastly we do have a third actor, but this actor will not be seen, only heard. Therefore i feel there is no need for a character profile for this actor just a simple description of what we want them to sound like and their gender:

We want a middle aged female voice, that is well spoken, matured, kind nurturing voice, but also needs to sound concerned at the same time.
MUSIC..

Currently we think that we would only like to play one song for the entire reel. This song will be in the wedding scene. When the female character is walking down the isle we want to play a song that is a stereotypical wedding song to make it clear to the viewers its a proper wedding. We will have it being played very loudly but then will fade it out when she reaches the end of the isle and turns to face her soon to be husband. The song that will be played is called Wagner’s bridal chorus.

Here is a link to the song that will be playing:

STORY BOARD

The reason why i say this is only supposedly our final draft is because when it comes to filming, we may change lines to ones we decide in the moment sound better. If this happens we will add an updated version onto our blogs at a later date.

Colour coding of the script

  • Anything not to do with one specific character
  • Elizabeth
  • Brad
  • Anglia

(Music playing)

Elizabeth walking down the isle

Brad: (Mouthing) i love you

(music fades they face each other)

SCENE TWO

Elizabeth: (gasp)

Brad: “Wake up you worthless bitch, i’m hungry.”

(phone rings)

Brad: “Don’t you dare get that, you know what she’ll say,” (1second pause) “I’m the only one who will love you, remember that.”

(Brad answers the phone)

Brad: “Hello Anglia, how are you?” (2second pause) “Yes I'm well, we’re both well,” (2second pause) “sorry Anglia just letting Elizabeth have a sleep she’s so tired from work,” (sarcastic tone) (2second pause) “ill get her to call you when she wakes up.”

(Brad walks over to Elizabeth)

Brad: “I’m off to work now,” (1second pause) “dont be making any calls behind my back, i will find out if you do,” (2second pause) (kisses her cheek) “I love you my Elizabeth.”

(Brad leaves, slamming the front door)

(Elizabeth falls to the floor and starts to well up as theres a gentle knock on the door)

Person 1: “Elizabeth,” (2second pause) “I know you’re in there,” (1second pause) “let me help you,” (2second pause) “I know what he’s like,” (1second pause) “please,” (2second pause) “let me help.”

(Knocking on the door gets louder and harsher)

Elizabeth: “NO”

                                                 THE END

When we were writing our script we knew we wanted to keep the wife’s character silent :(Elizabeth), this was to show how obedient and submissive she is, as though she has no mind of her own. We have given the husband’s character (Brad) more lines so he is the clear dominant figure of the relationship. We also want to put across this idea of how he speaks for her, controls her actions and even controls who she speaks to. Showing also the toxic nature of their relationship.

We decided for the abusive scene we wanted the husband to be wearing a wife beater, we are going to get a white one for him to wear so we can stain it with beer and food smudges. We also want him to be wearing a pair of trackies. The reason for thus us because we want the show the character doesn't care about his appearance, that he's in a low paying job and he's your stereotypical good for nothing waster. We want him to have stubble on his face, and messy unkept hair. There will be a strong contrast to this in the wedding scene, when he will be wearing a smart suit, hair brushed and styled and a clean shaven face. We won't be putting any make up on the actor, although we are considering on smudging some black eyeliner under his eyes to make him look tired.

For the wives make-up it will take us abit longer to do as we are aiming to make her look exhausted and we want there to be bruises or cuts on her body/face to exaggerate her injuries she has received to push across to the audience the true sad reality of the situation. Millie has asked a friend who is currently doing a make up course if she would help us do the make up, if not i will learn an effective way to do it. We would like her to be wearing males clothing for the abusive scene, to push across this idea that she is his 'possession'. How she's not even allowed to wear her own clothes, she has to be wearing his. Showing his possessive attitude towards her. We have chosen for her to be wearing a white top, as white symbolises purity and innocence. Which will hopefully emphasise to the audience her position as the victim in this situation. As the top will be just a males large plain top, it will be a like a short dress, so she will wear short pj bottoms underneath hidden.

Another prop we will need to use is a telephone, we want to use a landline phone as one stance could be that the husband may not trust the wife with her own mobile. We want to use a landline phone that shows the call ID clearly. We are considering therefore using Millie's landline Phone. Lastly for the wedding scene we will need to get some wedding rings, but wedding rings are going to be slightly out of our price range.. But we will figure a solution around this.
